Philip Welsh quality transport and shipping artwork.

I have always had an interest in shipping and transport and through encouragement from family and friends decided to translate a desire into something tangible in which I can pass on my own interpretation of the chosen topic.Against this background I have always enjoyed painting and having achieved qualifications in my early years,am largely self taught.

Coupled with my family's association with shipping and shipbuilding and always having had an interest in transport related matters particularly shipping, road and rail,I have derived much pleasure from producing illustrations, concentrating mainly in gouache as a medium, although I have carried out studies in oils also.
During 1970’s and 80’s I was a member of a local Art Society and this gave me the opportunity of displaying my work and it was at this stage of my life that my work was beginning to become recognised,to the extent that it resulted in several purchases.
In this context I decided to have produced blank greeting cards and prints intended for sale to external customers etc, depicting the various ships built and operated locally, and having sourced a local printer,I have now produced a range of designs.

I currently sell through four retail outlets and direct to the general public at specialist transport events and local fairs etc.The principal niche which my product is concentrated concerns locally built and operated ships and I intend to produce work which captures life in the shipyard and port generally as a future topic.
